Crewnecks are a staple for any wardrobe. For a long time, vintage Russells were my favorite. The silhouette is right and there's something about the way they look that nothing current has matched.
But if you've worn one, you know the problems. They're thin. The cotton-poly blend is itchy. They pill. You'll find a great one, wear it constantly, and watch it slowly fall apart.
That bothered me enough to go looking for why.
So I built it the way I wanted to find it. Same silhouette as the Russells I love, same single-V construction from the older references, but with fabric that holds up. 450 gsm cotton fleece, no poly blends, no shortcuts. A waffle lining underneath at that traps heat the way the original thermal layers did. Heavy enough that you notice it the first time you pick it up.
It's the crewneck I wanted to find and couldn't.
